Anna Swanson
Anna Swanson currently works as an attorney for the global law firm, Kirkland & Ellis, LLP. She practices anti-corruption litigation, and works within the government, regulatory and internal investigations section at Kirkland & Ellis. At the law firm, she also engages in pro bono work related to capacity building for justice actors in Africa, and she represents victims of human trafficking to expunge their criminal records of charges associated with their victimization. Prior to working in her current position, Anna Swanson was a federal prosecutor at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Houston, Texas where she prosecuted child exploitation and human trafficking crimes. She also served as the Manager of Security, Investigations, and Law Enforcement Development at International Justice Mission’s (“IJM”) field office in Mombasa, Kenya. She spent two years in Kenya, Africa leading interventions related to law enforcement on IJM’s counter-commercial sexual exploitation of children project which served three counties in Kenya (Mombasa, Kwale, and Kilifi).
Anna has over 17 years of justice sector experience. Prior to becoming an attorney, Anna served in a career in law enforcement with the Houston Police Department. Anna believes that God places in each individual talents and spiritual gifts that are used to impact the geography, environments, and people where we find ourselves during every season of life. God can use us in any profession and in any place, if we are willing to say “yes” to God and allow Him to work with whatever we have, wherever we are, and in whichever way He desires. We may have plans for our lives, but Anna believes God has much better plans if we are open to receive them.
