James A. Lee
Pastor James A. Lee is the President and CEO of Bethel’s Heavenly Hands, one of Houston’s leading community outreach organizations serving thousands of individuals each month with food, wraparound services, and pathways to stability. A native of Abington, Pennsylvania, James served in the United States Air Force before beginning a distinguished career with NASA’s Aircraft Operations Division, where he worked until retiring in 2017.
Since joining Bethel’s Family Baptist Church in 2003, James has been a dynamic ministry leader—founding the B.E.A.C.O.N. Boys Ministry, leading capital campaigns, and serving across youth ministry, Christian education, and pastoral care. His leadership reflects a deep commitment to strengthening families and equipping communities to thrive.
Under his direction, Bethel’s Heavenly Hands has grown exponentially, culminating in a 15,000 sq. ft. Community Outreach Center offering food assistance, a resale shop, classrooms, and counseling spaces. His community impact has earned regional recognition, including the KSBJ Community Impact Award and the Houston Responds Catalyst Award.
James is an alumnus of The College of Biblical Studies, Virginia State University, and The DeVos Urban Leadership Initiative. He and his wife, Yolanda, have four children and five grandchildren.
